Now for the correct answer:

It is worth what you and the seller think it's worth.

There are too many variables to allow an intelligent appraisal, here, on an impersonal web-based forum where the expertise leans toward Dodge trucks. However, here are some basic guidelines:

The govt paid $60,000 each for these trucks, during its final model years, which were in the late 1970's, and early 1980's.

The truck, as you may know, is utilitarian to a fault. It even less comfortable than a PW, if you can imagine such a concept. It is a big pickup truck, basically.

The truck, if a former FD truck, which implies indoor storage, and careful professional maintenance, with little rust, might be worth anywhere between $4,000 and $8,000, assuming an even playing field, BUT (see the rant below about GL, Ltd).

Find out about:

Year of manufacture
Mileage
Multifuel engine
Airshift transfer case
Heat/defrost
Power steering
12 or 24 volt
Original alternator, starter, gauges
Singles or dual rear wheels
Condition of tires
Factory hard cab roof, canvas, or a homebuilt one.
Dropside bed
PTO winch or aftermarket electric one
Extra skidplates, etc, welded on

These all contribute to originality, and therefor, saleability.

The PTO/winch is worth $1200, on or off the truck. Parts are plentiful. One could build an entire truck from used and NOS parts found in the surplus market. KIA, the Asian automaker, is producing almost exact replicas, and new parts are available from them. There are thousands of residue trucks from which to glean parts.

YOUR gov't has allowed a bunch of criminals, namely Government Liquidations, Ltd, to act as agent in disposing of all military materiel. Their underhanded, sloppy, evasive, and unfair procedures are the grist in a large mill of discontent, among the thousands of people, organizations and businesses involved in the surplus vehicle market, that will eventually result in a Congressional investigation. In the mean time, prices are being driven up artificially in the public and private surplus markets, in which I am a player.
