If you are getting gear lube leaking thru the inner seal then your outer seals are bad as well. Replace outer seals and the lock nut that the outer seal rides on as the nut sealing surface is usually worn out. the hubs shoudl only have grease in them. So if the outer seal and its surface are good, the choice of inner seal is not as critical. I have used both rubber and leather on the axles and longevity was about the same. I used leather on some pinions and they did weep slightly.
