A 66 Caddy Pitman arm has the right drop, length for my application in this custom install. My steering box is mounted much higher than most PS conversions. The Fire Dept that owned this truck, had cut the pitman arm and re welded it to suit their needs. Pitman arms should not be welded as they are forged, drawn and heat treated to a rockwell hardness and tested. I had to find an alternate pitman arm that would work in my needs as I would never drive it with a welded pitman arm. They had even tack welded up the steering U joint to better fit the input to the saginaw box. The steering was a accident waiting to happen. Its now installed correct and safe.

Thanks to MannyC for a link to an available 66 Caddy Pitman Arm. These are getting scarce and I wanted one in case I ever do another M-37.

Paul
