First off, thanks to
Vaughn, Dave Speed, Joe, Paul, Mike C and others.
I am working off my laptop now.
My I.T. support guy from work took my computer in and tried to run a recovery program. The hard drive is damaged in some way on one sector?, he found the files but they were all corrupted-gobblygook. He is reloading Windows XP after he saves all my good data. So, unfortunately I have lost a lot of word documents for good. Luckily no financials though.
BTW, he had me install the AVG antivirus free ware, and it found 130 viruses. He said there was no way I got all of those in the short time NOrton was expired. He said Norton is junk at this time, which is what I heard over on the mozilla help site too.
Lesson learned, back up data, which I will do now with the CD burner he installs.
