Hook up a battery which way the cables fit best, then turn on the lights, see that the ammeter swings to -. Reverse battery if needed. If you guessed wrong initially, you might need to re-polarize the regulator.
Coil,ammeter hook ups, and regulator polarisation, are the only things changed. No specific parts for either + or-.
