It's sad to see the mills close, especially a mill that's the last real industry in a town that is now 100% retail and tourism. They'll probably make more money selling the land to a developer than they could have made making lumber for the next 20 years. On the other hand, the lumber industry is doing pretty well these days. Lots of help wanted ads for millwrights, log truck drivers, equipment operators, sawyers, etc. Part of the reason the old mills are closing is that they can't compete with the new mills that are made for the small logs they have these days. I'm going to go to the auction just to see what the place looked like. I was lucky I got to see the Weyerhauser Snoqualamie Falls mill in operation. It was one of the last that still ran primarily on steam generated by burning waste wood.

By the way, all the trucks in the auction appear to be fords.
