Norm,

I absolutely agree on all accounts. I am building this only for myself as I have looked for the right candidate for this for a long time so I would not butcher something that had real value. I have had about 10 PW's of every variation, (1) WC-54, (3) WC-12, (4) PW's, and (2) W-series, but let all go for that reason. I have also been around this forum since day one, just read every day and post very little. I knew as soon as I threw the 'C' word in there it would invoke a nasty response! You would be surprised, though, how many e-mail I have received in 24 hours (7) total, from closet Chevy transplanters, with some decents pics, thanks guys, I'll keep the secrets for you. I thought about a 318, but I am really not a fan of them because of costs, weight, size, etc. If I was worried about re-sale or anything like that, I would restore to original. That is not what I am after. I am still considering a more-modern frame, (haven't found a wheel base close, and would rather not cut one or re-position chassis mouunts, but I plan on a full interior cage for safety and want to tie in from front to back in case she ever does go over (let's hope not). It's amazing though, that some non-purists are getting the willies from this, but you watch Trucks, and Staci is swapping in a huge HP BB Mopar, stout driveline, and Monster Rockwells and that is not too bad to some people. (Did you see the enormous frame extensions he added to drop spring mounts?) By the way, this build was well under way before he thought about his project. I did not mount a thing to the truck yet, still tearing down and documenting the build with pics. Thanks for your feedback, and at least we are all talking about trucks and tech instead of westerners and sheep ;-)

Steve
