Mike, I've been toying with putting radiant tubing in my slab, I figured about $500 in materials even if I don't use it it'll be there. I have two hot air furnaces, one oil, and one old coal-wood furnace. If I can get my hands on some solar panels cheap I could heat the space for almost no money. The thing is I have a heated workshop basement where I do most of my work in the winter, Keeping the barn heated constantly with a radiant floor will cost some $, A quick blast with a hot air furnace will warm it for the weekend work then shut off during the week, I won't spend too much on heat.
