We described to an engineer what we wanted to accomplish then paid him the big bucks to spec out the truss design, centerspacing, required additional bracing in supporting walls, etc. It was worth the money to walk out of the county building department with their approval after the first submission of plans with them believing that we actually knew what we were doing!!
