Most of the fires you are seeing on the news are from in and around D/FW. Mostly urban departments with limited wildland fifefighting equipment, they are there filling trucks and providing manpower for the smaller rural/vol. departments. The forrestry service is there with helicopters and trucks you just don't see them in the coverage of the metroplex news stations.
