Who has rewired their 12V trucks?

OK guys, Ive torn out all the old wires, labeled of course. I want to keep the new system simple, like duplicating a mid 60's sweptline truck to work in my original 12V truck. I just priced a light switch and they are a bit pricey. would switching to a newer one be worth it? Or should I just stick to the old system. Does anyone have a GOOD picture of a late 50's wiring diagram?
