Mine has the "correct" cab with the rectangular rear window (well, actually a rectangular hole where the window should be). That cab's sides perfectly match the curvature of the back of the body tub. Mine was supposedly in Alaska during its early life and shows signs of once having had an arctic heater kit on it as well.
Most of the M37s around here (Wallace, ID) were bought from local government agencies who got them via reutilization. As I recall, all of them have the CCKW cabs with the oval rear window, and I was told the local government agencies put them on. A rag top is not much good in the heavy snow and rain of North Idaho. Those cabs don't fit perfectly to the M37 body tub but there was a standard adapter or filler strip that takes up the gap. I know one guy has a good spare one here, but don't know if he'd sell it and obviously it's way too far from you.
