Last work truck I sold was to a Tiajuana juink yard. I don't care about the cosmetics of the inside of the bed (or the outside), I care about convenience, and protecting my cargo (I make custom furniture). So I use a flat sheet of Medex, a waterproof fiberboard. Unlike plastic bed liners, it has a moderate amount of friction, so the cargo don't slide around. It is also flat, no Grand Canyon style ribs, so things stand up straight and can be slid around without breaking their feet. My current truck, I used a 5x10 sheet, cut off two feet to use as the head board, and trimmed to fit around the fender wells. So, it may look nice underneath after all, except for the fenderwells and a few dozen bolt holes for tie downs, tool box, headache rack, liftgate, spare mount...so what does the paint matter?

Sprayed in liners are still ribbed, and have so much friction they are a PITA to load, but you would still have to tie things in. Or slide an engine block around, and score up your $300 liner...
