Holly sh__! Holly SH__! Holly sh__!
Hats off to a song well over due.

My grandfathers brother lied about his age (WWI) to go and fight, instead of liing about his where abouts to hide.

He came back alive but died soon after, from health conditions contracted during his services.

My Great Grandparents NEVER WOULD HAVE CONSIDER SUEING THE GOV. OR PROTESTING like the stories I hear about now.

They new what a Great Country we had/have.

I drove my '49 to the local coffee shop on monday and while in line I heard an older gentleman and a man in his mid 40's commenting on my nice truck. As I stood their leanig back to listen closer the older man was reminissing about back in the day and what a savior those Dodges where.

He went on to say "Gee's we took them trucks places you'd never imagine, and come out the other side no less.

Boy how we loved them trucks nothing would stop them no matter what!

After buying a coffee for the wife and I she at home of course, not a big a fan of my hobbies.
I turned introduced myself, shook his hand and thanked him for all that "WE" have.

Then asked if I may sit and hear some of his stories. He was glad to share them but explained that they were not pleasant. Besides the graffic dead body stories he had trouble buying a car after the war because of his service.
Even after explaining his 60% disability. The dealer wanted to charge him $600.00 over list price. This is the thanks I get he say's.

Well I've got to go It's about a 30 min drive home. Ofcourse I asked where's home?

A few towns away I've lived in this town for 89 years I'm 90 now, but I can't find a room to rent, my pension is about 40% of what is used to be.

As he DROVE away I thought to myself wow those terrible stories really are true.

I wasn't sure if I should be proud or ashamed.

Quickly realizing I'm proud and Damn lucky!!

So MY hats off to all that have servered old and young.

THANK YOU!

Bob Cocivi

ps GREAT SONG !!
