I think it is a great idea. I have ARB lockers front and rear of my Ford Superduty with Michelin XL tires. I have not had any difficulty steering but the wheelbase is longer than that of a jeep. The truck is unstoppable and It has decent street manners. The selectable locker also limits the stress on the entire driveline. I am attempting buy a set for my 1974 Ford Bronco. My pain threshold is rather low. I payed 650 and axle for the Superduty (Dana 60/Sterling 10.5/10.25). I think 1050 an axle is high for the market as I do not use my PW as tool. The Superduty I use the locker often on my parents land. just my 2 cents.

Also, the matter of controlling the locker by the rancid breathe of your passenger, nitrogen ballons given away at the local fair or high speed air compressor is academic, please see pirate4x4.com as people have hooked the controls up to manual, ARB valves, industrial solenoid valves etc (typically electric over air). The lockers will save axles as you determine the when and how it is used. Great idea, expensive.
