Seat position with regard to the gas pedal

Paul,
Looks like your having a whole lot of fun and the seats look great. Got questions on the seat to gas pedal position. I am only 6 feet tall (thought that was normal height)and have a heck of a time with my leg hitting the shifter and wheel in my 57 FFPW. It has original bench seat. What can be done to correct these problems? Is M37 same shift location? Was everyone back in the day short and stumpy? Can you h3eat and ben the shifter to correct? Is putting in nice seats like yours that best thing to do without hanging the pedals? Any and all info and insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, cramped and bruised Dean in PA.
