I remember bruising my finger while cleaning a knuckle joint in 1975. All I did was miss a grab at it, and thump the back of my finger againt the knuckle (knuckle to knuckle?). My hands were so cold, no circulation? Frost bite? in San Diego...

I'd use diesel, kerosene, paint thinner, not just for flammability issue.
