I used to get worn out winch drum liner blocks after they were replaced at the trona mines. They're polyurethane and are just about the most durable stuff on the planet. You could haul off truck loads of them for free too. Several hundred were used to cover the winch drums on the large ore skips (20 tons of ore capacity). I can check on getting more if anyone is interested. They're about 4 inches wide by about 6 inches tall by about 10 inches long with a half round groove in the top for the wire rope to lay into.
