That is why you want to get them with certified hips, heart and elbows. You also want to see those records on the parents to. Lot of the breeders won't test them cause the dog may look good but don't want it known health wise they are messed up! When you pay 1,000.00 plus for a Newfoundland Puppy it better come with all that information for at least 3 generations back plus a garentee it will pass those tests later or you get a refund and can return the dog.
