When I was in the towing biz at Lake Tahoe, we had a 1965 Ford super duty 9000 2 axle 4x4 with 6V53 in it and a 5 speed trans (Max speed was 48MPH) It was a former Nevada DOT Plow truck! We were REQUIRED to wear hearing protection when using that rig as it had straight stacks next to the door windows!! We alos had a weekly routine of tightening the oil pan bolts as they would 'rattle loose' But, I'll say this, I could hook up to a loaded 18 wheeler and pull 'em in high gear over Donner summit with no problem at all!! It was a beast!!
Also, as for the install in the WC, Dana Collins of Army Surplus Warehouse in Idaho Falls, Idaho has one in an M37 and it works VERY WELL! (Eaxcept for the noise!)
