Being that I live with in the boundries of the Colville Reservation they do not like to nor do they follow white mans rules. They do have there own set of weird laws but since they allways have trible fires, sweat houses ect they won't ban burning wood. We do have bans during the fire season for outside burning but that is understandable do to the risk of major fires! That is why I have a deep pit so I can store the paper till it rains or the ban is lifted after the severe fire season is over. Now 12 miles away in Okanogan it is a different story they ban outside burning all the time and even wood stoves during the low pressure/no wind times since they are in a valley. I drive off the hill sometimes and see this dark plume hanging over the town and it makes me want to turn around and go back home! It is like a layer of fog settled right over where people live sorta like when you come into LA, California. Mark H.
