Many different types of heating have been mentioned here. A couple of thoughts: The Natural gas/propane radiant heaters are set and forget. The heaters that require wood, pellets etc need to be tended.
The heaters that use oil are somewhere in the middle as far as needing to be re-filled (assuming that gas heaters are being fed from the utility grid).
Open fires, wood, pellets, oil heaters etc., are banned or will soon be banned in many parts of the country in areas with particles of soot or similar air quality ordinances. Check out your local or pending air quality laws before investing.
