Comming from a family of farmers who were also volunteer fireman, I think as white collar replaces blue collar too many things are "thought" about too much and common sense is not factored in. recently I had a customer whose car accident caused her door to be trapped shut. After cutting half the car door off(the person was not severly injured) it was discoverd by unlocking the door it would have opened, without prying. Many of our departments in our area have also (most by way of federal or state regs)repaced smaller simpler (less costly) fire trucks and rescue trucks with $250,000 aparatus, with people running them that cant back up a pinto much less a 50,000 lb rig. Another crazy thing is the Dept. Of Homeland security gave all these grants and most of the fire companys around here are wasting the money (if you dont spend it no more will be comming attitude) We have small rural deptment with $100,000 bio hazzard trailers and command centers, that even if something happens have no manpower to support it anyway

rambling on again
