Andy, I did as you said, and it charges on the gauge, ( I didn't have my Fluke at home today) at idle, but once you kick it above idle it goes negative. This firetruck hasn't run in 20 years, so it maybe bad wires or regulator. I'll keep you posted. Thanks Dan H
