Steve, I wouldn't unless you have to. I removed mine only because the spring pin was so durn blastedly corroded in place there was no other way to get the thing hammered out. Short of that situation, I would use a car reamer to open up the rivet hole one bolt size (and to make everything nice and perfectly round), and replace with high quality grade 8 bolts. Bt the way, caterpillar bolts are about the best you'll find: extra large head, and made in the USA. Don't forget to Loctite.
