Thats why the diesels will kill an auto. They have enough torque to keep lugging up the hill at 60mph. Chewing the guts out of the tranny. That is caused by the driver of the truck not properly doing things the way they should! All of a sudden Dodge got a bad rap for having poor transmissions. It was poor drivers!

You are doing good in putting it into 2nd gear. Thats what the manual says to do when pulling and on steep hills.
