{{I read on a Dodge diesel web page (it was a private owner not Cummins or Dodge) that for either the 2000 or 2001 model year there is/will be a high output option for the Cummins engine. I can't vouch for the accuracy of this info because I don't know where it originated. The reasoning behind this is that the old 5 speed and automatic are near their design limits, but the new heavy duty 6 speed is capable of handling the additional power. Has anyone else heard of this? I believe the order code was a series of three letters }}

The current engine comes in two power outputs. The manual has more power than the automatic. However, if you go to a cummins mechanic, he can get more power out of the engine. It's only putting out about 1/3 of the power it's capable of. The power was cut back because of warranty reasons. If you bump it up, you void the warranty.
