the easiest way i have found to prelube the engine is to pack the oil pump with light grease. this will enable the the pump to suck oil immediately. in addition, remove plugs and spray a little oil in each cylinder. crank a little- wait, crank a little- wait. if all is ok you should have oil pressure almost immediately. change oil after running to remove the grease--- but i suspect it would do less harm than the bits of metal from the orig break in period.

btw-- i have heard others on the forum argue about the existance of a fiberboard spacer and i assume longer bolts to prime the engine. i assume the spacer is thick enough that the pump gear does not engage. this would allow cranking with a shaft set up in the post above.
