au Contraire I wasn't talking about the milemarkers winches.
I was talking about real hydraulic winches on real
twotrucks. I have had up to 20 gallons of hydraulic fluid
literally boiling on recovery (over the side) type work.
Once it gets thin the motor goes followed by the pump, just
like I said. This was a new AATAC truck in 1993. single
pump, dual winches, 40 gallon hydraulic tank. We smoked
all three recovering a crew cab for 4x4 from over a
a cliff. I finally finished the
recovery with a PTO winch equipped truck. You're right about
the deadman features of the hydraulic controls but
deadman switches should be standard equipment on
ALL PTO winch equipped trucks.
