I used apple cider vinegar in my M37 gas tank. Over the course of a week or two (depending how bad it is) it will dissolve the rust and contamination down to the bare metal again. Remove the tank and clean it out the best you can before you start the vinegar treatment. After that I then used a tank sealer called "Kreem" that I got from JC Whitney. It turned out pretty good but be sure you buy enough "Kreem" for the size of your tank, otherwise it may not get into all of the corners very well. Next time I will try the soda ash electolysis method that has been talked about in previous forums. Hope this info helps!
