That's exactly what a local Tranny expert told me. The harder the shift, the easier it is on the tranny. It's just harder on the rest of the driveline and passengers. Any slip, that's how smooth shifts are made, are making heat and wear things. I always took my problems to him and he'd fix them the FIRST time with no return visits. He's past on now and unfortunely didn't pass his knowledge to the current owner. I have heard of some problems with the new Allison's with a Duramax but in all the years we had them in big trucks and floaters never had one rebuilt. Kevin
