Well still having problems with my Automatic Transmission in my 1998 Dodge 3/4 ton! It keeps over heating when I pull about 4 miles up this hill empty after driving only 20 miles or so!!?? The Trans Temp Light comes on it still seem to be shifting OK when this happens. I disconected the Heavy Duty Trans Cooler and blew air thru it to make sure it is clear, I changed the fluid and filter did not seem that dirty nothing on the magnet to speak of. Did a Google Search on the Net and found out lots of people are having problems with there Trans going bad even after only 30-50K miles on the Truck and having it go bad again 20-30K miles later! They have been costing them $2500.00 to $3,500.00 to be replaced also! Since the truck is only worth $5,800.00 to $6,200.00 that sure seems like a lot to pay for one! I am realy bummed since I still owe $10,000.00 on this truck and going nothing but in the whole now with it. Wish I had not been talked into buying this great pick up now. My old 1989 Dodge Van after 186,000 miles had the tranny go bad (pulling a GVW of 14,000+ lbs over the pass)and it was $250.00 for a used one to fix it again. This is a total Joke to pay that much for the 1998 to be fixed. About ready to let it go over a cliff and take the easy way out. Any thoughts on what the problem might be or is this just Dodges problem with the Automatics they put in these years of trucks since it seems so many people have had the same problem and not realy solved it with replacing them having them do the same thing again later! I have only had 1 automatic go bad in allmost 40 years of driving and it was my other 1989 Dodge now the second one is a 1998 Dodge whats the deal? Mark H.
