Click on "Forum Archives". Search for "Spitfire". You will see all of the previous threads about these engines. The "Spitfire" head was a marketing scheme. The head is no different than other heads of the era except for the logo and lightening bolts. They came in two displacements (251ci. and 265ci.) in one block size (25").

Remove the filler plug in the head over #6 cylinder. Insert long rod. Rotate engine until #6 piston is at lowest point. Mark rod. Rotate until #6 is at highest point (TDC). Mark rod and measure distance. This is the length of travel. 265 is 1/8" to 1/4" longer than 251 as I remember, but check the previous threads on Forum Archives to be sure.
