tires are engineered for specific sizes &
types of wheels - that is a given
always best to mount and use according to
the manufacturer's specifications using the
wheel size recommended - that is a given
some large section tires are engineered with
cantilevered beads for narrow wheels
example the michelin 11.00r16 series (XS, XL,
& XZL tires) which are designed for 6.5h16 wheels as are the 9.00r16 series
printed in all their tech books the 6.5h16 wheel is in BOLD print as the recommended wheel to use with these michelin tires
Tire Mfgrs usually have some tech assistance
line you can call to get the whole picture
