Gordon, my experience was almost the same only I had hit some entwined honeysuckle vines just as I let off on the trigger. With the chain still coasting, it followed the vines straight into my calf, exposing the muscle sheath like a four inch zip lock bag opened. This was during a 13mo. period when I had no med insurance...so, much to the spouse's displeasure, I anointed with remedies on hand and let it knit back as best it could naturally! I too was a 25 yr. plus with chain saws, but was tired and careless for a mili second.
