You may be referring to my post regading pressurized cooling systems. I had the same problem you are having, with a 251 and custom radiator set up, that I had. I learned the hard way that the 230 / 251 freeze pugs are not designed for the kinds of pressures (14psi and up)that my new radiator and it's new style radiator cap put on it. This didn't have anything to do with the thermostat. If I recall, the stock radiator cap only allows for 3-4 psi of pressure.
