The 3.2 CDI V6 diesels have aluminum blocks. These motors are in the current E-class. I don't know how alloy blocks will perform in
the long term. The 3.2 CDI makes 376 ft
pound torque from 1,600 RPM to 2,800 RPM,
same torque rating as the 5.7 Hemi, but with
a very flat curve. Some frugal drivers have
reportedly got 50 MPG in the 3,800+ pound
E-class. These have top speed over 140 MPH.

I believe the V6 diesel will be used in
the Sprinter box van, probably in Chrysler
300 models as well.
