I should probably shut-up around here, I don't know beans about these trucks however, my last '48 had some well placed, very neatly attached, hooks. You see them there in front of the back two pockets and right inbetween the front two. They were obviously for screwing into something (flat back with two holes) but the hook part has a knob on the end so as not to cut or hurt anyone working on the truck, and they're semi-tucked up out of the way under the bed rail. The truck I have now - someone, somewhere back in time, welded about 37 pieces of bent, hooked-metal to each side, in some random order! They're sharp, they're welded poorly, I plan on grinding them all off... but yet, you do need something like that. My theory was to neatly (as the early truck) attach a few for hold downs.
