Actually, some fords have pretty similar runner designs, as far as equal lengths for all eight intake and exhaust runners, but they are not as efficient and the cylinder head is not the same shape either. The ford design does have merit as it is very close.
For an example of what the racing world thinks about it, look at the NHRA, the winning ford teams of John Force, the gm teams and in fact all top fuel and funny car teams use the 1964, 426 HEMI block and heads as a starting point for their motors. Results speak for themselves, if the 427 was better, they'd be using it, in fact some ford teams tout their engines as "the ford Hemi"... = )
