I also had a 57 Desoto, 4 door, with the Push Button Auto Tranny. My second year of college, the reverse button would not activate reverse.
Ha!, simple answer, dont get 'anywhere' you need to back up. Could not afford to have it fixed, ran it that way for almost a full college year.
It too was a Battleship.
