Is the ID of the Pilot bearing once installed still correct for the Trans shaft?

When the machine shop force installed the pilot bearing in my '68 V-8 (with a non final machined bore, it shrank and the trans shaft would no longer fit inside.

Once it was removed and I installed a new modern bearing that fits in the TC opening I was able to align the clutch by eye, and slide everything together very easily.
