I still think you did fine. My black 77 with 400 small block 4.56 gears gets 12mpg empty 7 mpg LOADED. The blue 84 has a 6BTA Cummins in it with 3.73. It gets 18mpg empty and 13 loaded. It has no OD so it would do much better,ha I said in an earlier post that I knew that was a re-power. GM was reluctant to use the big engine because of driveline Warrenty and heat problems. The Dana 60 front and dana 70 rears are standard.
Nice truck. And btw you stole it because the prices are coming up like the rest of older work horses. TGP
