That's what I thought. It didn't seem like it should get hot. Sad to say I haven't checked the oil level in any of the gearboxes on this rig, except the winch, which had nothing in it but water and bronze powder. I don't even have my gear oil bucket and pump here. I figured I'd check it when I get it to Idaho. If I do flat-tow it (against all advice), that's another reason to pull the rear axles and the front hubs. I know the wheel bearings are okay because I packed them when I had the drums off to do the brakes a few years ago.
