Put lockouts on the front, replace the rear axles with the front caps.

I ruined a set of rear wheel bearings driving it in front wheel drive with a removed rear axle. Lost all the grease, fryed the brgs, wheel wobbbled and pushed the brakes away from drum. I had had the rear end start howling. I also blew a head gasket, broke a head light, broken filament shorted and blew headlight fuse. There were 33 water barrels up Devil's Canyon grade on Interstate 8. I's stop at every second one. A bucket of water ON the radiator, a bucket of water IN the radiator, a shot of Tequila into the driver, and up the hill. I came rolling into home after dark with no lights, with hand brakes only, bad head gasket, wobbly rear wheel, bad differential. And a hangover. I had left tracks where nobody had gone before, or since. All in all, a successful trip.

I used to have a plaque on my dash.

"Getting there is half the fun,
and all of the adventure."

To which I might add:

Getting back is the other half of the fun, and the REAL challenge.
