Grey smoke= partly burned diesel, stinks too?

Black is too much fuel, white/grey is partialy burnt, should only do that at startup.

Try a wab search for the adapter, I think the outfit sells a 'mighty mite' tachometer too. Then, you'll need the specs from JD. Try loosening the lines and twisting the pump? My GM got lots better moving it 1/16". Is there a 'light throttle advance' system on that pump? Lever on the side, moves when gassed? If so, it actually retards the timing at full throttle (same as lite advance, no?) Maybe diddling with it will break the advance mechanism loose?
