There's a lot of people in England with memories going back at least that far Dave.
Both my 3/4 ton WC trucks were marked as Army Air Force trucks, 306th Bomb Group, rather than just army vehicles, as many Command and Carryall trucks ended up doing service with the USAAF where they weren't so obviously senior officer transport as they would have been on the ground up front.
