There is a possibility that the shaft is twisted in teh side gear....making it a eal bear to get out. If you're going to put the Lock Right in anyways, I would order new side gears from AB Linn (I think they were less than $20), disassmble and replace the side gears when you do the Lock Right.
It wasn't that hard....I did mine caveman style, with a MAP gas torch and a hammer/cold chisel :-) It would have been WAY easier to do it with more heat.
PS The directions that come with the Lock Right are horrible. If you need better instructions, email me.
