The difference is that in a pinch most of us could have our own "milk, butter, and steak factory" but we'll never be able to make our own gasoline.
My question wasn't very serious, but I do wonder why the megafarms, especially the hog operations, are allowed to generate as much animal sewage as a fair sized city, but not treat it nearly as well as if it was human sewage.
