He spent too much time parked next to the salty ocean air and didn't take care of it properly. Every morning there is dew on our cars parked outside here. If you're close to the beach you'll have salt in that dew, just look at the places where there is rust, it is exactly where moisture collects and dries last. Too bad, the sheet metal looks pretty straight. I would imagine that some of those Baja trips included the "fun" of running on the beach. Lifeguard Jeeps used to last about 2 years here before the bodies fell off from the salt water. Most Lifeguard Jeep vehicles switched to fiberglass bodies, then later to toyotas, nobody cares if a toyota rusts....= )
