the NDT tire was designed for 100% off road
military vehicle use world wide. The same design was used for 40+ years and then modified with some sipping and called a NATO tread (go to cabells page & see the a sample)
NO they probably do not give much traction on
a wet paved road - not engineered or designed
to do that. In mud and snow they were designed to be chained for max traction
(look at the picture of the wc63 in the "dodge power wagons photo archive" book - it is chained on all 6 wheels)
a michelin XS, XL, or XZL will not work any better on wet roads either because again they are designed for 100% off road service and have no water sipping (the XS is designed for desert (heavy sand) use only and still available in some countries in 9.00x16)
So if you use a PW mostly on paved roads perhaps an STA might be a better tire to use
than an NDT as an STA is not designed for 100% off road as an NDT is and has a lot of sipping.
